The Boys

The Boys
Triptych
Mixed Medium; Acrylic, gold leaf, glass gel beads
Size: 12x24
“The Boys” is an extension of the collective naming my brothers and I received when our family was not sure on who to specifically place a blame on, or who to call to complete a task. (e.g. The Boys did it/will do it). This particular rendition of the boys depicts our childhood Saturday morning pastime of watching cartoons, but with the adult versions of our lives. The left panel depicts myself (more fast-paced city life), as the right panel depicts my older brother (more laid back, farm life) and the center panel depicts my late eldest brother (entering the pearly gates). The mediums and details were extremely important to me when developing this piece as I wanted to capture the texture variations through each depicted version. My brothers and I share an especially unique bond and I wanted that to be evident when viewing this piece.
